The BBC’s DIY SOS team has rebuilt the dilapidated home of a Gloucestershire family who were in desperate need of help.
The Beasley family, from Cirencester, needed more than a hand with a spot of decorating – their entire house needed remodelling from the bottom up. Having suffered a series of setbacks, from health problems and bereavements, to financial instability, The Beasleys’ former council home had been somewhat neglected.
Builder turned television personality Nick Knowles led the team of tradesmen and roped in friends, family and neighbours to help with the project. It took the Big Build team nine days to completely remodel and renovate the family’s home, thanks to help from the small group of volunteers from the local community.
Walls were knocked down, others rebuilt, and the family was left with a beautiful new home, which without the help of the team they would have struggled to have afforded.
The team has already helped tens of families turn their houses into homes, including those of single parents and the elderly and infirm.
