Dartmoor Rescue Group
this community group is ready for action thanks to a £500 donation

The North Moor Section of the Dartmoor Rescue Group, which searches for lost, injured or missing people, has received an award of £500 from our Community Fund. The group has used the award to buy a laptop computer which allows them to print off location maps and email one another with vital information.
“Quite simply, this donation from The Co‑operative will help us to save lives. Our new computer means that we can access specific, accurate information, which will allow us to respond to emergencies more quickly,” said group member Vinny Sansom.
The donation comes from The Co‑operative Community Fund, which offers grants up to £5,000 to worthy causes. Just over £1m is available annually to support charities and community groups in regions across the UK, with local members’ committees allocating the awards throughout the year based on a set of values and principles such as social responsibility and caring for others.

“The Co‑operative Community Fund can make a real and lasting contribution to local communities, and we are delighted to make this award to the Dartmoor Rescue Group. Many community groups share our co‑operative values and could benefit from an award, and we would certainly welcome their applications,” said The Co-operative's regional secretary Andrew North.
