Waterways Children's Centre

a nursery school in Thamesmead is benefitting from a £1,225 donation

Waterways Children’s Centre provides day care for 40 children, but its premises has had problems with vandalism. A recent donation of £1,225 from The
Co-operative has helped put smiles back onto the children's faces.

“Thanks to this kind donation from The Co‑operative, we have bought grids for the windows of the nursery,” said Waterways manager Gillian Turner.

The donation comes from our Community Fund. Just over £1m is available annually to support charities and community groups in regions across the UK, with local members’ committees allocating the awards throughout the year based on a set of values and principles such as social responsibility and caring for others.

"The Co‑operative Community Fund can make a real and lasting contribution to local communities, and we are delighted to be of help to Waterways Children’s Centre. Many community groups share our co‑operative values and could benefit from an award, and we would certainly like to hear from them," said The Co‑operative Group regional secretary Karen Frogatt.
