RSPCA Good Business Awards

we won the RSPCA's People's
Choice Supermarket
award

RSPCA Good Business Awards 2009 finalist

In October 2008 we were awarded the first ever Lifetime Achievement Award by the RSPCA for our leadership position on animal welfare.

In October we were voted winners, taking 59% of the vote. Read more about how we are the public's favourite ethical supermarket.

Once again, members and customers had the opportunity to vote in the RSPCA’s People's Choice Supermarket Award, which is designed to recognise the retailer doing the most for animal welfare.

The Co-operative had been shortlisted alongside Sainsbury's and Marks & Spencer by a panel of expert judges, based on our commitments to Freedom Food, free range eggs, higher welfare Elmwood chicken, responsible fish sourcing and outdoor-reared pork.  You can find more details on our Food news page:  The Co-operative in running for top animal welfare award.

The People’s Choice Supermarket Award, part of the RSPCA’s Good Business Awards, is the public’s opportunity to vote for their favourite animal-friendly supermarket – the one they feel puts animal welfare first.
