show some love
help us reduce the environmental impact of our events

We’re always looking for ways to reduce our impact on the environment, which is why The Co-operative Membership has launched a scheme to help our members reduce their carbon dioxide emissions caused by the hundreds of meetings and events we run together throughout the year.
We love to get members involved in what we do, but coming along does involve some element of travel for most, and unfortunately that means CO2 emissions.
travel alternatives
We’re encouraging all members to make the effort to travel to meetings and events by alternative means, be it by foot, train, cycle, tram, bus or even roller-skates – we don’t mind.
- Where possible we will provide transport to large meetings – contact your Regional Membership Team for details
- Plan your public transport route door-to-door by visiting www.transportdirect.info or call Traveline on 0870 608 2608 for general information
- Visit National Rail Enquiries on www.nationalrail.co.uk or call 08457 484 950 for up‑to‑the‑minute train times and information
- Why not cycle to meetings? If you need convincing take a look at www.whycycle.co.uk, and to work out your best National Cycle Network route visit www.sustrans.org.uk.
Or consider car-pooling with other members that live locally – learn more about the benefits of car sharing.
When you get to the meeting or event, just show us your bus or train ticket, flash your bike helmet or demonstrate that you’ve travelled by alternative means, and we will be offering you small rewards to show our appreciation.
offset your carbon emissions
For those who have used a more carbon-intensive form of transport to get to one of our events, we will offer the option to offset your CO2 emissions produced.
Wherever you see this symbol at an event, simply fill out the online questionnaire when you arrive so we can work out your emissions and buy carbon credits on your behalf through Climate Care.
