What happens in meetings

Starting with their community, elected members of all ages from all backgrounds share ideas and work together to make a difference

The agendas and formats of committee meetings can vary from month to month. For example, one month the meeting might be about trading issues, with operations management giving presentations and answering questions; then the next month the meeting might cover membership issues with the Co-operative and Membership Officer providing feedback on activities and seeking the committee's views.

When you become an elected member you can get involved in more than just the monthly meetings. For example, you might want to promote a campaign like Fairtrade, or help us get the co-operative message across at a community event. There may also be discussion on store visits attended by the committee or the business of national meetings, conferences or events.

Committee meetings usually take place each month and committee members will receive all the paperwork they need around 7 days before the meeting, including:

  • The meeting agenda
  • Trading reports
  • A report on membership activity and proposals for forthcoming events
  • Any other reports needed for the meeting
