Our new store in the Cumbrian village of Dalston launched on 29th March 2012.
Built by the Cumbria-based developers Lattimer Group, the store is unusual in that its design has been approved by English Heritage to fit in with the local conservation area, with natural local stone and traditional slate roofs used. All the colleagues who worked at the old Co-operative food store in Dalston transferred to the new site just across the road. The store features an extended range of fresh produce, an in-store bakery, eco-refrigeration and 19 car parking spaces.
Our store in this residential area of Greater Manchester opened on 23rd June 2011. The former pub had been empty for some time, before it was acquired by a developer and extensively refurbished to become a Co-operative Food store.
Working with the local Planning office to ensure the use of the site was appropriate for the location, the building was stripped back and over half a million pounds was invested into redeveloping it. The site has 12 parking spaces, located at the back and the front. The store created 14 new jobs and provides the local community with a great range of products within easy reach.
Sales Area: 2801 square feet.
On 15th December 2011, two brand new Co-operative Food stores opened in one day in the heart of Edinburgh city centre – one on Frederick Street, and another on nearby McDonald Road.
Based in a busy location between Edinburgh’s most famous historic landmarks and its popular retail destinations, the Frederick Street store provides tourists, shoppers and city workers with a convenient place to pick up day-to-day groceries and food on the go. The unit previously housed a Thomas Cook branch, before it was converted into the new food store. This glass-fronted city centre store is entirely situated the ground floor of the building, with the back-of-house facilities, including storage and staff areas, behind the main sales area. The store created 20 new jobs and features state-of-the-art fixtures and fittings, eco-refrigeration, and energy efficient lighting.
Sales Area: 1806 square feet.
As part of an ongoing commitment to serving local communities, we opened our new store in the North Yorkshire market town of Masham on 12th July 2012. Following the investment of half a million pounds, the brand new eco-friendly Food store on Leyburn Street replaced Masham’s former store on Park Street.
The new-build store, constructed from scratch on land previously used for industrial units, was fully built using responsibly sourced materials. The new store has achieved a “Good” BREEAM assessment, the official recognition for a low environmental impact building. The eco-friendly rating has been achieved through the installation eco-refrigeration and lighting that both work to reduce CO2 emissions, a leak detection system to limit water wastage and seven different recycling streams. Conveniently located within walking distance from home for many customers, there are also 21 car parking spaces available at the store.
Sales Area: 2987 square feet.
