I am very fortunate to have been a member of Cambridge and East Anglia Area Committee over the past 6 years, during a very exciting time for the Co-op. Whilst an area committee member I have enjoyed playing an active part in membership events promoting cooperative aims and values.
I believe the growth of The Co-operative Group in recent times, and the general public increase in interest in co-operatives is very welcome. I would like to see the Co-operative build further upon this success to become the widely acclaimed first choice in every one of the areas in which it operates. This would be due to both the quality of the products/services provided and because ethical principles are central to everything the Co-operative does.
I work for a local housing association as a Community Services Manager. I am responsible for some of our supported housing projects and community services, such as our children’s day nurseries.
I am a long term member of the Woodcraft Folk, a voluntary educational organisation for young people, based on co-operative principles. I enjoy working with others to achieve a common goal.
I am also involved with the Prospects Trust. This is a co-operatively run farm growing a wide range of fruit and vegetables, which provides work for around 50 adults who have a learning disability.
