Anne Wilson

Barrow-in-Furness

I’ve been privileged to be a member of the committee for 10 years and I currently hold the position of vice-chair.  Based in Barrow I actively represent members from across the region and I take pride in the ‘hands on’ involvement I have in a wide range of community projects from promoting Fairtrade to healthy eating, supporting environmental initiatives through to member events such as history screenings and wine tasting evenings.

Working for many years as a community nurse has given me a strong local knowledge and I’ve met a wide range of people from all walks of life. I understand the economic issues facing members living and working in our area and I’m committed to enriching the lives of local people and allowing their views to be heard.

I believe in having a proactive involvement with the local Co-operative businesses to support them in profitable trading and provide a communication mechanism with members.

I am currently undertaking the Certificate in Co-operation and I was a member of the Values & Principles Committee for 3 years, upholding the co-operative values that I feel very passionate about.

My priorities if elected are to continue playing an active role in community projects, to engage with members to effectively represent them and to promote the principles of co-operation.
