I am seeking re-election after 4 years on the Committee, during this time I have taken an active role in delivering projects ranging from member events such as Fairtrade wine tastings and environmental activities through to family fun days.
I live in Barrow and work in Ulverston which gives me a good local knowledge of some of the communities represented and I understand the social and economic issues facing people in the area. I am committed to representing members’ views and providing support and activities that are both relevant and useful.
I aim to provide a channel for members to communicate and engage with the Group whilst also supporting the local Co-operative businesses in profitable trading. I have a business background, including time spent working for the Group in a marketing role, so I have a thorough understanding of both the concept of Co-operation and the commercial aspects of the organisation.
I feel it is vital that the Committee continues to champion the ethical issues that matter to members and to ensure the business remains a relevant and modern option in today’s difficult economic times.
My priorities if re-elected are to continue to engage with members, to effectively represent them, remain involved with community based activities and to ensure the Group’s values and principles are upheld.
