I was first elected to the West Yorkshire Area Committee in 2010 and I am standing for reelection for a further three years of hard work, commitment and having further opportunities of meeting many local community groups and actively supporting their hopes and aims.
I have been elected to membership of the Co-op Membership’s Regional Values and Principles Committee and to membership of the Joint Area Committee Project Group which has been specifically formed to embrace understanding and working together with many of the various ethnic and minority interest groups within the region.
Education is one of the original founding principles of the Co-operative movement; one of my enduring passions is to ensure that our youngest citizens receive the best quality learning opportunities available. I have recently been nominated to become a Governor of the new Coop Primary Academy of Leeds, a role that, having had much previous experience as a Governor of a College of Further Education for nine years, I am really looking forward to.
I have also been nominated by the Co-op North Region to be a judge in the finals of the annual Green Schools Champions Challenge.
All this work is not only challenging but immensely rewarding and I am seeking your support to ensure that I can continue with this great journey.
