I first heard about the Co-operative Movement 29 years ago and thought it would be great to get together with others to help change the world, I joined and have been active ever since! 

I shop, bank and insure with The Co-operative because I know I will be treated fairly as will our suppliers and employees.  I also think it’s great that as owner members, our profits are shared between us and our communities rather than city speculators.

Area Committees are vital in maintaining and strengthening our links with local communities and our members.  My experiences as a teacher, a manager for Oxfam and running my own business, plus expertise I have gained from volunteering with young people and in politics, inform my work with colleagues looking at local trading, distributing our community dividend and carrying forward our membership work.  I also have a strong interest in the wider Co-operative Movement and in helping develop co-operation in as many areas as possible.

I bring innovative ideas, tenacity, a strategic view and enthusiasm to further our interests as members of The Co-operative, members without whom we would not exist.  I have been a Member of our Area Committee since 2002 and would like the opportunity to help our business flourish and to continue our work in Fairtrade, equality and the environment.
