member communities
bringing together regional and national networks of members
local communities
As a member we provide you with lots of opportunities to help you make a real difference in your community, whether you can spare a little or a lot of time. Anyone who is a member of The Co-operative can organise an event – from charity fundraising events to supporting your children’s school fair – and post it on our members’ events diary which lets you know details of activities in your region.
If you are looking to organise your own event or set up a neighbourhood initiative, we can help with ways to get your activity off the ground with a step-by-step guide – including tips on getting started, gauging support within your region, forming a community group and then maintaining momentum and progress.
Your community group could benefit with support from our
Community Fund. And if you want to help other local organisations, donate some of your share of the profits to the Fund.

community groups
We also bring together members involved in specific groups and networks. Amongst others we support members from the black and minority ethnic community group (BME Communities) from our south-east region; the Women’s Community Group from the south-west region; and the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) network of Co‑operative members throughout the UK. These community groups hold regular meeting and events around the country, which you can find in the
events diary.
