Any members who have earned 200 or more membership points between January and June 2009 will be sent a cash payment, based on the points they earned when they traded at any of The Group’s unique family of businesses which include: The Co-operative Food; Travel; Pharmacy and Funeralcare as well as The Co-operative Bank and The Co-operative Insurance.
The payments are sent as vouchers, which can be spent or cashed in our stores, or paid into a bank account with The Co-operative Bank. More about your share of the profits.
Over 1 million members have elected to give at least the odd pence of their payment to community groups, whilst others have chosen to forego their entire share of profit dividend. This means more than £500,000 will go directly to charity groups working with local communities as a result of the Interim payment.

Members are also actively encouraged to assert pressure for change on a range of issues including climate change and social exclusion. Last year members were polled so they could help it to decide the causes and campaigns that will be supported by The Co-operative.
Following this consultation, three themes have emerged which will be the focus of The Group’s community and campaigns work: Young People, Climate Change and global poverty, all of which will be backed by £1 million campaigns this year.
