Who we are

Welcome to Waste Works, The Co-operative's recycling education centre in Manchester.  Young people have a great time here learning about sustainable living and seeing recycling in action.

Waste Works is based at The Co-operative Recycling Centre - the largest in-house office-waste recycling centre in the UK. We bring waste paper from our head offices here to be recycled into toilet and kitchen paper, which is then sold in The Co-operative Food stores. 

Waste Works is managed on behalf of The Co-operative by Waste Watch, an environmental charity with more than 20 years of experience of communicating a sustainable waste message. 

What we do

• We provide a FREE, fun, educational experience for all our visitors
• We work with schools and the local community to spread the word about sustainable living
• We inspire visitors to take positive action and change their behaviour towards recycling and other environmental issues and to encourage others to do the same.
