We invest a significant amount in our British suppliers, establishing strong relationships through our Farming Groups and offering products produced to good animal welfare standards. We take a stance against animal testing for cosmetics and household products.

Supporting British farming
We’ve invested £2.5bn in sourcing Co-op brand British meat, produce and dairy products.
In May 2017 we became the only UK retailer to offer 100% fresh British meat. And by 2019 all meat used in Co-op brand frozen products will also be British.
We're also working with the next generation of farmers to build their skills with 60 young members currently on our development programme.
All our Co-op branded fresh, frozen and prepared meat and poultry is Red Tractor standard as a minimum.
For higher welfare, we use RSPCA Assured or equivalent. We visit suppliers regularly to ensure our standards are met.
We’ve achieved Tier 2 in the Business Benchmark for Animal Welfare for the fourth year running. Businesses that reach Tier 2 are classed as having "farm animal welfare as an integral part of business strategy".
