I whole-heartedly believe in the Co-op way of doing business. I started my Co-op career in Food stores at 16. I’m proud to have served members on the Council this year. I understand our business and respect members who’ve stuck by us during our difficulties. If elected, I’d bring passion and commitment to our ethics, values and local communities. Elect me and collectively we’ll renew our Co-op and ensure we remain relevant for future generations.

I’m proud to have been involved in Co-ops for 9 years, starting work with an independent Co-op at 16. Joining The Co-op Food, I progressed my career to working in store management teams across the country including one of our largest stores, which is in Stornoway, Isle of Lewis. It was there I was able to see first-hand how the Co-op difference really impacts our local communities. From fundraising for local hospices, and supporting local suppliers to picking and delivering shopping to those who are unable to leave their home. It is important our colleagues are empowered to continue this great work, and if elected I will work to protect this. Having worked in stores for many years, I have been able to listen to our members and customers and learn about what matters to them. I feel the Members’ Council would benefit to have another colleague with this insight and frame of mind.

As a member of the Co-op Young Members’ Board, I have been able to reflect upon how the Co-op is considered by younger generations. It is my belief, that the Co-op way of doing business should be obvious choice for young people who look for honesty and authenticity during this age of “Fake News” on social media and scandals in the press of corporate greed and unethical practices. Therefore if elected I will work hard to ensure we try and keep the Co-op relevant to younger generations and provide ethical products and services that suit everybody’s needs. Elect me, and I will bring to the Council, understanding of our business and members as well as commitment to our values, ethics and Fairtrade. Thank you.
