I came to learn more about Co-op following my appointment eighteen months ago as Member Pioneer Co-ordinator under the Community and Shared Values Team. With over 30+ years’ experience in community development and engagement and currently serving as a Magistrate, I was strongly attracted to Co-op’s principles, ethos and community approach. I was also intrigued as to how Co-op balances it’s business priorities and its long-held commitment to its communities. I recognise the tensions and challenges of this and I hope that, through my own contribution to the work the Council carries out, that I can ensure a fair balance between the importance of business and the equally important focus on community can be maintained.
