Skills and experience
As a lifelong member of the Co-op I have always valued its ethical stance and now as we live in such a profit driven society it has become more important than ever to me to support and uphold the Co-op principles. My work within communities and regeneration give me a ground up approach to sustainability and understanding of the importance of communities having a voice.
Additional information
Throughout my career I have worked and volunteered in various capacities from Business Support to Town Centre regeneration in communities, many of which have been diminished by loss of employment and outsourcing by major companies. Within the core of these communities are the people whose voice often fails to be heard, yet their needs and desire for fairness and equality are greater than ever. The Co-op has been a stalwart of these communities all over the UK, serving generations of families (I knew our Divi number before I knew my own address as a child).
I feel passionately that our future well-being will be determined by our attitude and approach to matters such as food welfare, and Fairtrade. In supporting these issues, amongst others, the Co-op plays a major part in helping to build a better future and I would love to play a small part in ensuring that this continues and develops.
