Co-op Collective

Our Co-op Collective is a research panel, made up of nearly 11,000 members and customers from around the UK who are invited to take part. Participants span a range of demographics and backgrounds. It helps us provide as broad a view as possible when we’re carrying out research. In 2023, over 78,000 activities were completed through 210 individual opportunities like surveys, discussions and in-store tasks led by our businesses on the work they’re doing.

Here's some examples of how our Co-op Collective has helped make a real difference in 2023.

  1. It’s been a priority for Co-op and our Members’ Council to support communities with the rising cost of living. To understand the pressures members and customers are facing, we ran a check-in and fed comments and concerns into business plans to tackle pricing.

  2. It’s important that we support all our businesses with opportunities for member-owners and customers to help make decisions and shape work. We carried out a range of studies in 2023 to understand what matters most, bringing their views to the table for decisions on convenience bakery products, packaging, Christmas and Easter ranges, jargon busting for Insurance, and communications and offers from Funeralcare.

  3. Our Food business has been refreshing its own-brand strategy and we know that availability and competitive pricing on essentials and favourites is important to members and customers, so we did a deep dive into how shoppers perceive our own-brand range and own-brand ranges in convenience retailers generally to help inform what we do.
