Skills and experience
My passion has always been to support my local community, by becoming involved with various local Charities. I am so pleased that the Co-op, through the Local Community Fund, is demonstrating its support of the communities it serves as well as contributing to regional economies and providing a direct benefit to members. I would welcome the opportunity to influence and extend the Co-op’s wider Values and Principles as a representative on the Members’ Council.
Additional information
I am originally from Portsmouth where my parents were members of the local Co-operative Society, as it was known then, since as long as I can remember. My family and I moved to Cumbria 28 years ago and our five children are now scattered across the country. We have strong family values and all the family have in various ways ‘given something back’ to the communities in which they live. I believe the Co-op has been described as a family of members, and its own values and principles reflect what I feel is not only good business sense but also demonstrates that it cares for and is involved in the local, regional and national communities it serves. As I am recently retired I should be able to devote more time and energy to those interests and organisations with which I am involved. I would welcome election to the Members’ Council and, if elected, would hope to have some positive influence in the way the Co-op interacts with and supports the community.
