Skills and experience

I have worked for the Co-op for 25 years in Retail Management. My personal values and principles are that of the Co-op. My role as a Manager has involved building strong links with the community and supporting them in many ways from Fairtrade talks in schools to pensioner’s luncheons. In my home community, I was a Town Councillor for 10 years and Mayoress twice, allowing me to support my community and still does.

Additional information

I have worked for the Co-op for the majority of my working life, I am proud to work for the Co-op for many reasons. It has shaped me into the person I am hard working, caring, committed and loyal. The ethics , values and principles are what make us different and what make a difference in shaping the world from Fairtrade and one water , talking loneliness and modern slavery also our communities that we work and live in .

Currently I have strong links with the community I serve from talks about Fairtrade at schools to litter picks in the town and for the last two years providing a monthly pensioner’s meal which helps tackle loneliness within the community. Also supporting the local football teams, visits to residential homes to chat, support with dementia friends’ tea dances and talks in school with career wales to inform students about careers in the Co-op, perhaps the future leaders.

I am a leader of a great, forty strong team who work hard to deliver the coop ways of being. The four ways of being, do the right thing, show you care, succeed together and be yourselves always are fundamentally my own personal ways of being.

In my spare time I like to look after my 6 rescue horses and my rare breed Balwen sheep , along with my partner on are small holding in the Snowdonia national park which is an amazing part of the world .

I would like to be a part of the Members’ Council so I can drive the changes we can make, cooperatively with all the issues our communities and the world face from modern slavery, plastic in our oceans and so many more.

It would be amazing to have an opportunity to help shape what we do and how we do it and truly make a difference.
