Skills and experience
I sincerely want to be a Council Member and help the Co-op achieve its purpose. I am a practising solicitor specialising in business rescue and a Board Member of a housing association. I have served as a governor of our primary school and volunteered for over 20 years in sports and community events. I have a strong social ethic and believe by working hard in our community we make all of our lives happier.
Additional Information
I live in Chester with my husband and daughter, and our dog Toby. My mum lives half a mile away. We shop almost every day at our local Co-op Food store, which has changed a lot in recent years, for the better I’m pleased to say. I know the Co-operative can improve even further and I would consider it a privilege to be a Council Member guiding that process.
I graduated from Plymouth University with an International Business degree and worked in London for several years in publishing before moving to Chester to study law. I am now a partner at a reputable North West law firm, specialising in business rescue. I am qualified as an insolvency practitioner, which means I have training and experience in analysing business performance and strategy. I am a member of the Insolvency Practitioners Association and the Association of Business Recovery Professionals (R3) as well as the Law Society.
Since 2014 I have served as a Board Member of a registered housing association. I firmly believe social housing has a key role in reducing poverty and disadvantage. If we are secure in our home then we are better able to meet the other challenges in our lives. I have served as Member of its Group Audit & Risk Committee and Group Human Resources & Governance Committee.
I have been a governor of our local primary school and support it through PTA fundraising. Working hard for our community is important to me and I have been a dedicated volunteer for sport events and club organisation for the last 20 years.
I believe I can be a useful Council Member, bringing my diverse experiences in business, social housing, education and sport clubs as well as my skills and professional training. I firmly support the Co-operative Group’s values of self-help, self-responsibility, solidarity, equity, equality and democracy and believe I can be a strong advocate of those values as a Council Member.
