I have experience as a Co-op senior manager, Committee Member and Director of the highly successful Phone Co-op. If elected I would campaign for additional stores and Funeralcare branches within Wales. Fairtrade must remain a priority for all our trading activities. Thanks for reading this. I am an experienced co-operator with a life time’s experience as an activist and senior manager. My first adult job was as a representative dealing with Welsh co-ops. Following teacher training I worked in Further education running courses for Society employees. For many years I was a management tutor at the Co-op College and then a senior manager with a Regional Society. I have been a Regional Board member and delegate to National Council. Until recently I was Director of the Phone Co-op. Currently I work as a Civil Funeral Celebrant offering support to families at their time of need. If elected I would campaign for the expansion of both food retail and Funeralcare throughout the Principality.

Council has a duty to hold the Board to account for the implementation of our Values and Principles across the business. As a devolved nation Wales should have a democratic structure that reflects that reality. Manchester does not always know best! The membership team must be given the tools to make democratic involvement a reality. Members’ meetings should again become part of the annual calendar. The Group must continue and expand its Fairtrade offering across its entire range. For the future the Society needs to be innovative in its offering to members and customers. Our success is built on the efforts of our hard working and dedicated staff. They deserve the best possible terms and conditions of employment.
