Women in Leadership across Logistics and Supply Chain
07 September 2026
Co-op has welcomed a new intake to its ‘Women in Leadership’ programme, across its Logistics and Supply Chain teams following the completion of the inaugural 2025 cohort.
Developed with learning and development provider Raise the Bar, the initiative provides aspiring female leaders and established managers with the skills, confidence and support to progress their careers.
Beatrice Dodan – from the inaugural cohort - has been part of the team at our Avonmouth Central Distribution Centre (CDC) for 11 years now, after moving to the UK from Romania. She shares her story.
*“When I was 18, I moved to the UK with just £30 in my pocket and no real plan.
“I started working as a Warehouse Operative at Avonmouth CDC and, over the years, I worked in a variety of roles across the depot. It was through those experiences that I discovered a passion for leadership and eventually became the site's first female Back Shift Warehouse Team Manager, responsible for running the loading, ambient and chilled areas of the depot and providing support to the wider team. * “In 2024, while working in the Logistics Implementation Team, I applied for the Women in Leadership programme to continue developing my skills and confidence as a leader. During the programme, I was successful in securing a role as a Labour Management Lead and it has been a proud milestone in my career journey. * *“Looking back, the 18-year-old me never could have imagined the opportunities that would follow. Logistics has challenged me, shaped me and helped me grow both personally and professionally. *
“To any woman considering a career in logistics, I'd say: be confident in your abilities and don't be afraid to take that next step. The industry has so much to offer, and we need more women to help shape its future.”*
