A taste of La Dolce Vita at home: Co-op launches authentically Italian double-filled pasta range

Made by renowned fresh pasta producers in Italy, consumers looking for the iconic flavours of la dolce vita can now enjoy authentic Italian pasta from the comfort of their own homes, with the launch of Co-op’s new restaurant-style double filled pasta range.

Rooted in heritage, the range is crafted by traditional Italian pasta makers where Luigi Bertagni began making filled pasta in Bologna in 1882. Now, more than 140 years later, Italy’s oldest filled pasta producers have created Co-op’s full range of Irresistible Italian double filled pasta using the same simple ingredients and passion for quality, a first for a UK retailer.

Unlike conventional filled pasta where the flavours are combined as one, the specialty of this range is that each pasta parcel has holds two separate fillings which gives two clear flavours when eaten. Co-op will be the only UK retailer to offer a full premium range of double-filled pasta following the launch.

The delicious range features four new premium flavours including: Brasato & Bechamel Ravioli, 'Nduja & Burrata Cappellacci, Butternut Squash and Sage Cappellacci and a Wild Mushroom & Mascarpone Mezzelune.

Made with free-range eggs, the silky-smooth pasta parcels are filled with rich, classic Italian fillings using simple, carefully sourced ingredients. Each parcel is 'double-filled' with two separate flavours in each of the pockets to enhance the tasting experience, providing two distinct, delicious flavours in every bite – best served with a simple drizzle of EV Olive oil and a shaving of parmesan on top.

Designed to offer an ‘irresistible' dining experience without the cost or time spent eating out, the convenience retailer’s new range cooks in just under four minutes and takes inspiration from traditional Italian cooking. To additionally cater to restaurant style dining at home, carefully curated wine pairings are located on the back of pack of each of the new pastas.

The team searched Italy for the best producer to help us achieve the quality and innovation we needed, and the four pastas we are launching are simply amazing. No need to cover them in any sauce as they are best kept simple, and the way in which the two fillings are kept separate but then combine when eaten, really does mean you get two distinct flavours in each bite. They are completely delicious.”

Irresistible Slow Cooked Brasato & Bechamel Ravioli

Free-range egg pasta parcels filled with a rich, slow-cooked ragu of beef and pork, braised with red wine, garlic, rosemary and sage. Complemented with a second filling of classic creamy bechamel sauce, to create a rich, soft and meaty ravioli and an irresistible flavour combination.

Irresistible 'Nduja & Burrata Cappellacci
(£3.70, 250g)

A rich, spicy Calabrian ‘nduja salami free-range pasta parcel complemented by a second filling of sweet, milky burrata cheese to create a spicy, creamy combination of irresistible flavours.

Irresistible Butternut Squash and Sage Cappellacci
(£3.70, 250g)

Velvety smooth butternut squash stuffed inside a free-range egg pasta parcel complemented with the flavours of sage-infused butter and cheese in the second filling to add a creamy, savoury combination to the butternut’s natural sweetness. Vegetarian.

Irresistible Wild Mushroom & Mascarpone Mezzelune

Wild foraged porcini, gently sauteed with garlic, are paired with a mascarpone and butter filling – sweet, rich and creamy and a perfect complement for the porcini, all wrapped in a free-range egg pasta parcel. Vegetarian.
