A will to tackle cancer: Co-op aims to raise £750,000 for Cancer Research UK

15 May 2017

Co-op has today launched a new partnership with Cancer Research UK, aiming to raise over three-quarters of a million pounds to support the charity’s pioneering work into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

In support of the partnership, the Co-op Legal Services has introduced its #AWill2TackleCancer campaign. This offers a range of Estate Planning packages allowing people to plan for their future with both a professionally drafted Will and a Lasting Power of Attorney for a discounted price, compared to when bought individually. The ‘A Will 2 Tackle Cancer‘ Estate Planning packages come at three different price points to suit varying needs*.

The new packages will be raising funds for Cancer Research UK, whilst also providing customers with assurance that their wishes are accounted for.

The Co-op will**:

  • Pay 10% of the Estate Planning Package fee (exclusive of VAT) to Cancer Research UK, this ranges from £25 up to £79
  • Pay £100 (inclusive of VAT) from each funeral plan purchased to Cancer Research UK
  • Offer customers the opportunity to make a donation to Cancer Research UK

James Antoniou, Head of Wills for Co-op Legal Services, said:

“We’re incredibly pleased to be able to support the outstanding work being done by Cancer Research UK.

''Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney are so important for everyone to have in place and we’re hoping that our affordable Estate Planning packages can help to raise a significant amount in support of the charity.“

Sophie Langman, Head of Corporate Partnerships at Cancer Research UK, said:

“We’re delighted that Co-op has chosen to support Cancer Research UK. Thanks to their customers, vital funds will be raised to help beat cancer sooner. We receive no government funding for our life-saving research so the money raised by the partnership really will make a huge difference towards bringing forward the day when all cancers are cured.”

Cancer Research UK is a registered charity in England and Wales (No. 1089464), Scotland (No. SC041666) and the Isle of Man (No 1103).
