Bristol Brewer Bags Co-op Contract

21 December 2017

Bristol-based Dawkins Ales is raising a glass to a contract win with the Co-op which sees it supply more than 20 of the community retailer’s stores in the region.

The contract is the brewer’s first with a national retailer, and will see it supply five of its ales to Co-op stores in Bristol, Bath and Somerset.

The move comes as the Co-op extends its local sourcing programme, with the brewery supplying ales including its: Resolution IPA; Tremendous Delicious – an amber ale; Bristol Gold; Bristol Blonde and, its Bristol Best – Dawkins’ flagship and award-winning ale.

The deal comes ahead of the brewery’s expansion into new premises in Easton, with a new brewery tap set to officially launch in February 2018 to coincide with the Six Nations Championship, and the brewery to launch around Easter-time.

Dave Williams, Head Brewer, said: “We are really pleased, it has the potential to open up new markets and raise brand awareness. The contract also comes at a key and exciting time in our business development as we get ready to expand and move into new premises with brewery tap and increased capacity.”

Simon Dryell, Head of Local Sourcing at the Co-op, explained: “Locally produced ale is an exciting category, we see significant potential for sustainable growth, and we are delighted to support and champion these beers which are brewed with pride and passion to deliver consistently great quality and taste.

“The innovation, passion and quality going into these products is what makes them special. Our customers tell us that food provenance really matters to them, quality, trust, convenience and value are key for consumers. The Co-op is committed to investing in its local communities, supporting local economies and providing opportunities to showcase, support and celebrate great local food and drink.”
