Calverton Co-op re-launches following major makeover
23 November 2023
Co-op’s Calverton store re-launches today (Thursday, 23 November) following a near eight-week programme of works and improvements.
The near 2,400 sq ft store – located in Collyer Road, Calverton, Nottinghamshire – opens between 6am-10pm daily and, supports 15 local jobs.
Calverton’s Co-op incudes: hot food; in-store bakery and Costa coffee dispenser. The click and collect of groceries is available through the convenience retailer’s online shop – shop.coop.co.uk – with home deliveries in as little as under two hours through Deliveroo. A free cash machine (ATM) is available to provide access to cash in the community and, parcel collection services are offered through Amazon and DPD for added ease and convenience.
This sits alongside an enhanced focus on fresh, healthy and chilled products; meal ideas; everyday essentials; food-to-go; Fairtrade products, chilled beers and award winning wines; ready meals, pizzas and, free-from; vegan and plant-based products.
A soft plastic recycle unit is available in store to enable the community to recycle ‘soft plastics’ including: crisp packets and bread bags, lids from ready meals and yogurt pots, biscuit wrappers and, pet food pouches - ensuring Co-op’s own food packaging is recyclable through either local authority kerbside collections, or the in-store recycle unit.
Asha Cooper, Manager of Co-op’s Calverton store, said: “The store has a great new look, it has been transformed from floor to ceiling and we are really looking forward to welcoming Members and customers back into their Co-op. We’ve worked to develop the range, choice and added services to create a compelling offer to serve and support our community, conveniently. This includes a focus on delivering member-value so that the people who own our business, our members, benefit every time they shop.”
In August, Co-op announced its biggest ever single investment in pricing of £70 million, as it extended its ‘member-only’ pricing across everyday essentials. The convenience retailer launched the price investment with a list of nearly 200 fixed lines including milk and eggs and, with a Co-op sliced loaf at just 76 pence.
The Co-op is one of the world’s largest consumer-owned co-operatives. Its Members own the business and play an intrinsic part in the governance of the organisation, enjoying a wide number of benefits including member-only pricing across everyday essentials and personalised offers via the Co-op Membership app.
