Chopwell’s Co-op relaunches (Friday, 1 November) following a seven-week programme of works and improvements to ‘transform’ the store.

Chopwell Co-op

Located in Derwent Street, Chopwell, the near 2,000 sq ft store supports 12 local jobs and serves-up an increased range of fresh and chilled produce alongside an enhanced focus on meal ideas and everyday essentials; bakery and dairy products; food-to-go and meal deals; Fairtrade products; award winning wines; ready meals; pizzas; vegan and plant-based products - all Co-op’s own branded meat is 100% British including in its pies, sandwiches and ready meals.

Parcel collection services are available through DPD, payment services are offered via PayPoint and, an ATM provides access to cash in the community.

Self-service tills have also been added to provide further ease, speed and convenience – particularly at busier times.

A soft plastic recycle unit is also available in store to enable the community to return ‘soft plastics’ including: crisp packets and bread bags, lids from ready meals and yogurt pots, biscuit wrappers and, pet food pouches - ensuring all Co-op’s own food packaging is recyclable through either local authority kerbside collections, or the in-store soft plastic recycling.

Co-op members enjoy a number of benefits including member-only price savings across a wide range of everyday essentials, and personalised offers via the Co-op Membership App.

Kurt Viereck, Co-op Store Manager, said: “The whole team is delighted to have had the opportunity to invest in Chopwell. The store has been totally transformed, and with a fresh new look and layout, new flooring and refrigeration it looks fantastic. It is always our aim to operate at the heart of local life and we have worked to develop the range, choice and added services to create a compelling offer to serve and support our community, conveniently.”
