Co-op Funeralcare aims to tackle loneliness in Liverpool with community bereavement group
03 July 2018
Co-op Funeral homes in Kirkby and Walton Vale have launched a bereavement group aimed to support members of the local community through the loss of a loved one.
The free group, which takes place on the second Monday of the month, provides local residents with companionship and support following a bereavement.
Research from Co-op Funeralcare has revealed that 2 in 5 (40%) bereaved adults living in Liverpool have felt unable to talk about the loss of a loved one and express their feelings during a bereavement*. With this in mind, Co-op Funeralcare has introduced the bereavement group as a means of confronting the issue and supporting the local community.
Held at Holy Name Church, those in attendance can enjoy a hot drink whilst they’re able to chat with others who have also suffered a loss.
Pamela Brown, Co-op Funeral Director, said:
“Bereavement groups take place at Co-op funeral homes across the country and the groups help to bring people together and allow them to share their experience and perhaps find strength and comfort in one another.
“After seeing a bereavement group in action, we decided to set up the group here in Liverpool as the team and I want to do right by our clients and continue to help families through the grieving process. Members of the public who have suffered a loss, whether a friend, family member or even a pet, are welcome to join us.”
The next session will be held on 9th July at 5.30pm until 7.30pm at Holy Name Church, Fazakerley, Liverpool L10 9LG. To find out additional information about the group call Kirkby Funeralcare on 0151 548 2908 or email Kirkby@letsco-operate.com
