Co-op Funeralcare encourages co-operation amidst Covid-19 outbreak

Statement from Sam Tyrer, MD of Co-op Funeralcare
“Co-operation is more important than ever in these unprecedented times and our thoughts are with all those who have been impacted by the loss of a loved one.
It’s so important that Government, funeral directors and industry bodies work closely together to ensure that we are best set up to support those in our communities in a time of loss.
As the UK’s leading provider of funerals, we have engaged the government directly to share our expertise and guidance at this time. We met with Government yesterday and our director of funerals with over 40 years experience has personally offered to assist them with the national response.
We are encouraged by the speed at which the Coronavirus Bill has been brought forward today. Changes to death certification and registration requirements will speed up our ability to respond and support the bereaved.
Ongoing engagement and co-operation will be vital as we begin to more closely deal with the tragic impact of Covid-19. We are committed to supporting families and communities by playing a leading role in shaping the national response.”
