Co-op Funeralcare responds to funeral planning rise and opens the door to local community
09 March 2018
Responding to a local increase in funeral planning, the newly opened Co-op Funeralcare in Redruth is offering a unique opportunity for the public to visit the funeral home for support and guidance around funerals and later life planning.
In Cornwall over the last year, Co-op funeralcare has seen a 9% increase in the number of people choosing to take out a funeral plan and the open day, which will take place on Saturday 10th March, will give the local residents the opportunity to ask any questions which they may have about funerals and later life planning.
It follows the launch of the Co-op Commitment* for funeral plans which ensures there is no shortfall on funeral costs, even if a plan holder passes away before all monthly instalments have been met.
Members of the local clergy, along with representatives from the local doctor’s surgery, the town council and the British Legion will also be in attendance.
Redruth Funeralcare features a large reception area and two private chapels of rest where families can go to visit their loved one and pay their last respects.
Supporting families through difficult times will be Funeral Director Phil Whittingham and Funeral Arrangers Jayne Hall and Della Hampton.
Co-op Funeral Arranger, Della Hampton, commented:
“We are passionate about getting involved with the local community and doing what is right for our clients and their loved ones.
It’s encouraging to see that more people are planning ahead for the future. Not only will the open day will give the local residents a chance to meet the team, but it will also give them a chance to ask any questions which they may have about funerals and later life planning.”
There will be refreshments on offer to guests courtesy of the Redruth Funeralcare team, including tea, coffee and cakes for all.
The open day will take place on Saturday 10th March from 10am until 2pm and will be held at Redruth Co-op Funeralcare, 68 Fore Street, Redruth, TR15 2AF. For further information about the open day please contact the funeral home directly on 01209 313516 or email redruth@coop.co.uk

About the Co-op Commitment*
Co-op Funeralcare has introduced a new additional commitment for clients choosing to pay monthly for their funeral plan.
Customers taking out a funeral plan with the Co-op and opting to pay in monthly instalments over 2-25 years can benefit from the Co-op Commitment. This means that if the customer passes away before they’ve paid for the plan in full, the family or next of kin can rest assured that they won’t need to cover any financial shortfall for the funeral as they will receive the full services in the plan.
The new feature, called the Co-op Commitment forms part of a wider focus on improving the funeral planning market for consumers. It has been launched to complement Co-op’s comprehensive range of funeral plans, which can be paid for upfront in full, over 6 or12 months, or via low cost monthly instalments over 2-25 years. Prices start from £2995 upfront or £16.68 per month on monthly instalments. Co-op is the only UK funeral plan provider to offer this level of cover with their plans.
