Following the Government’s announcement to stay at home and social distance, Co-op Health has seen downloads of its repeat prescription app more than triple in the last few weeks, with thousands of medications being safely delivered to people’s doors across England.

Dispensing from its pharmacy distribution centre in the North West, the app enables people across the nation to easily access their repeat prescriptions whilst adhering to government advice to stay at home. The average delivery time is within 48 hours once their GP has authorised the prescription, and due to the direct and secure connection the app has to NHS patient records, Co-op Health’s process is easier and quicker for GPs saving them valuable time in this challenging period.

Tim Davies, MD of Co-op Health said: “We’ve seen an unprecedented uplift in people using our app. People who wouldn’t normally use technology to order their repeat prescriptions are increasingly doing so. Whether that is because they’re following Government advice to stay home, or they’re a key worker and need their medication to be delivered to work. Whatever the need, we’re here to help people manage their repeat prescriptions safely and conveniently.”

People can choose to have their medication delivered directly to their door or place of work. For key workers this is particularly convenient if they are unable to access out of hours services. Alternatively, they can choose to have their medication dispensed by and collected from any other pharmacy in England.
