Marston Moretaine’s Co-op re-launches following a 10-week investment programme to ‘transform’ the community store.

Co-op Marston Moretaine

Located in Station Road in the Bedfordshire village of Marston Moretaine, the store supports 13 local jobs and opens between 6am-11pm daily.

The investment in the store has created a fresh new look and enhanced range, including the addition of Costa Coffee Express, enhanced bakery range and, new refrigeration which cuts energy consumption while increasing the range and choice of fresh and chilled products. This sits alongside Co-op’s meal deals and food to go; Fairtrade products; ready meals; pizzas; fresh meats and dairy; chilled beers and wines and, everyday essentials.

An InPost locker has been added to provide convenient parcel collection services, alongside existing parcel services provided at the store by Amazon.

Plus, the online home delivery of groceries is available through Deliveroo and Just Eat – with orders picked fresh in the village store and delivered quickly and conveniently in the local community.

An ATM provides access to cash in the community, with payment services also provided in store via PayPoint.

There are offers, deals and promotions throughout the store, and member price savings creating additional value for Co-op members who can save more with lower prices on those essential products that shoppers buy most.

Co-op is committed to backing British agriculture, with all of its own fresh and frozen meat 100% British – including in its pies, sandwiches and ready meals.

Lea Deason, Co-op Store Manager, said: "We’re delighted to invest in Marton Moretaine, and extremely proud to be part of local community life. We work to ensure the store is a hub locally, and to see the store transformed with a great new look and enhanced range is fantastic. We have a focus on offering quality products, value and choice that can be enjoyed by everyone, alongside added services including coffee, bakery, parcel collections and, the quick online home delivery of groceries. The whole team is really looking forward to welcoming the community back into their Co-op.”

The store is focussed on supporting the local community, and during the temporary closure volunteering activities included supporting The Table – a weekly community meal held at the Marston Moretaine community centre where residents can eat, talk and connect.

Co-op is one of the world’s largest consumer-owned co-operatives, with its history dating back more than 180 years. Co-op exists to create value for its membership and communities, its more than 7 million members own the business and play an intrinsic part in the governance of the organisation.
