Co-op seeks to address funeral affordability with offer on market leading funeral plans
29 August 2017
- £125 off all pre-paid funeral plans at Co-op: the UK’s only fully guaranteed funeral plan
Co-op Funeralcare has launched a funeral plan offer to help address funeral affordability and to encourage people to share their final wishes with loved ones before it’s too late.
Currently 93% of UK adults have yet to make a funeral plan meaning their families will be exposed to rising funeral costs and uncertainty about their loved one’s wishes in the future. Two in five (40%) have yet to share their funeral wishes with anyone. (*1)
As the UK’s leading funeral director, Co-op Funeralcare is encouraging the nation to put plans for the future in place, with a £125 saving on all pre-paid funeral plans purchased before 30 November 2017 (*2). For the first time, the offer will be available to all customers purchasing a plan via phone, online, and face-to-face in funeral homes.
Co-op’s funeral plan is the UK’s only fully guaranteed funeral plan (*3) meaning it will cover the full cost of the funeral benefits set out in the plan including third party charges such as costs for doctor’s fees, a church service or Minister or Officiant’s fees, even if prices go up. This means loved ones won’t be left with any financial surprises.

Co-op members taking out a funeral plan will also receive an enhanced benefit, as they will receive 5% of what is spent back into their membership account (*5).
In addition, Co-op will give 1% back to local community causes. Members can choose the local cause they want to support from a list of up to three in each of 1,500 communities across the UK.
Matt Howells, MD of Co-op’s Later Life business, said:
“Talking about death is never easy, but it’s important that people share their final wishes with their nearest and dearest, so that when the times does come, loved ones can start to come to terms with their loss without having to deal with the burden of worrying about what someone may or may not have wanted.
“Aside from financially preparing for your funeral, a funeral plan offers peace of mind, reassurance and security in life, helping to remove some of the emotional pressures of planning a funeral for loved ones who are left behind. With this offer, we hope to encourage people to think about what they may want and at least start a conversation with those who are closest to them so that they can be prepared when the time comes.”
Co-op Funeralcare offers a range of four different pre-paid funeral plans starting from just £2,870 (including the £125 saving) for both cremation and burial.
Additional benefits of a Co-op Funeralcare pre-paid funeral plan:
