Co-op launches its newest convenience store (Friday, 25 July) to serve the community of Barton-on-Sea.

Creating 12 local jobs, the near 2,000 sq ft store – located in the landmark Westcliffe Buildings at the junction of Seaward Avenue and Sea Road - is welcoming members and customers of the community into the new store for the first time from today.

The store has an extensive range of quality fresh, healthy, chilled and frozen products, alongside a bakery; food-to-go and meal deals; Fairtrade products, pizzas, flowers; ready meals, award winning beers and wines, and everyday essentials.

Committed to supporting British agriculture, all of Co-op’s own meat, poultry and dairy is 100% British – including in its pies, ready meals and sandwiches.

Member price savings create additional value for Co-op member, with personalised offers for members and lower prices on the products shoppers buy most.

Soft plastic recycling is also available in the store, making it easier for shoppers to return harder to recycle materials such as crisp packets and bread bags, lids from ready meals, biscuit wrappers and, pet food pouches.

Dave Collins, Store Manager, said: “Its been a great day, absolutely lovely comments from customers who were all delighted with the store. There has been a lot of excitement locally as we have built towards launch day - and they loved their new store when they called in today to see it for the first time. We are proud to launch Co-op’s newest store, and really enjoying welcoming members and customers into their new Co-op.”
