Co-op serves-up new-look, extended, store to serve Southwold community

Co-op serves-up a new-look, extended, store to serve the Southwold community (Tuesday, 12, April) following a seven month, £1,6M programme of works and improvements.
The new-look Co-op store is powered by 100% renewable electricity and supports 18 local jobs.
Opening between 6am-10pm daily, the store includes John Lewis parcel collection and return, Amazon parcel collection and, the Click & Collect of groceries through Co-op’s own online shop – coop.co.uk/shop – for added ease, speed and convenience. There is also a free ATM and customer car parking.
The store – which is now around 25% larger at more than 2,800 sq ft – also offers a Fairtrade coffee dispenser, bakery, hot food and an enhanced range of fresh, healthy products, meal ideas, food-to-go, award winning wines, ready meals and pizzas, free-from, vegan and plant-based products and, everyday essentials.
Southwold’s Co-op also includes a recycle unit for ‘soft plastics’ which are unlikely to be collected by local councils, including: crisp packets, bread bags, lids from ready meals and yogurt pots, biscuit wrappers and, pet food pouches.
A funding boost is provided locally through Co-op’s Membership programme. Membership of the Co-op unlocks additional value through in-store offers, and sees Members rewarded with 2p in every pound they spend on Co-op branded products which is added to their own personal Membership account balance. The Co-op also donates the same amount to local causes and community organisations, with those benefiting currently including: RNLI Lifeguards, Southwold; RNLI Aldeburgh and Home-Start in Suffolk.
Students in Southwold who are TOTUM cardholders – the new name for NUS extra – also receive a 10% discount at the Co-op.
