180509 - Coffee

Co-op’s D H MacCabe Funeralcare’s monthly coffee morning, which was set up in 2011 by Funeral Arranger Noreen Green, has raised over £16,000 for local charities.

The monthly coffee mornings, which are run by Funeral Arrangers Lynn Lacey and Noreen Green, raise money for charities which are close to the community’s heart.

In the first four months of 2018, the coffee morning has already raised money for Saint Helens Church, Busy Bees Group, Dearne Memorial Group and the Church Hall totalling £481.

Noreen Green, Co-op Funeral Arranger, commented:

“I decided to start the coffee morning because I wanted to do what was right by the community and make a real difference to local charities in need of some extra funding.

“At first, people can feel apprehensive about coming in to the funeral home for a coffee but the reality is that the conversations are so varied and the room is always filled with laughter. Each month we get anywhere from 20 to 30 attendees and we’re always keen to have new people attend the group.”

The coffee morning is just another way that Co-op’s D H Maccabe Funeralcare supports the local community. As a part of the Co-op membership scheme, Maccabe Funeralcare also supports the Ardsley Scout Group and Body Carnegie. The Co-op gives 1% of everything their customers spend on selected Co-op branded products and services back to selected local causes in the community.

The next meet up will take place at Co-op’s D H MacCabe Funeralcare, 91 Houghton Road, Thurnscoe, Rotherham, S63 0JX on Wednesday 16th May from 10am until 12pm. All of the money raised will go to the Thurnscoe Family History Group.
