Crawcrook (in the metropolitan borough of Gateshead, Tyne & Wear) has seen its brand new Co-op store open this week (Friday, 1 November) as the convenience retailer relocates to a new, improved and larger location.

Co-op Crawcrook

Located in Main Street, Crawcrook, Co-op’s new 2,700 sq ft store serves-up an increased range of fresh and chilled produce alongside its focus on meal ideas and everyday essentials; bakery and dairy products; food-to-go and meal deals; Fairtrade products; award winning wines; ready meals; pizzas; vegan and plant-based products. All Co-op’s own branded meat is 100% British including in its pies, sandwiches and ready meals.

A Costa Coffee Express machine has been added and parcel collection services are available through an InPost Locker. Payment services are provided by PayPoint, and an ATM ensures access to cash in the community. The store also has customer car parking.

The online home delivery of groceries is available via Uber Eats – where orders are picked fresh in the local store then delivered quickly and conveniently in the community.

Co-op Members enjoy a wide number of benefits including member-only price savings across a wide range of everyday essentials, and personalised offers via the Co-op Membership App.

Natasha Held, Co-op Store Manager, said: “The whole team is delighted to have had the opportunity to invest in Crawcrook and is very excited to launch our brand new store. It is much more spacious and looks fantastic, with an enhanced range and choice. It is always our aim to operate at the heart of local life and we have worked to ensure the quality, choice, added services and value to create a compelling offer with which to serve and support our community, conveniently.”

A soft plastic recycle unit is also available in store to enable the community to return ‘soft plastics’ including: crisp packets and bread bags, lids from ready meals and yogurt pots, biscuit wrappers and, pet food pouches - ensuring all Co-op’s own food packaging is recyclable through either local authority kerbside collections, or the in-store soft plastic recycling.
