12 March 2026
Marske-by-the-Sea’s Co-op re-launches (Thursday, 12 March) following an 11-week investment programme to enhance and ‘transform’ the community store.
Representatives from local community groups including Redcar Rugby Club, Marske United football club and St Bede’s Catholic Primary School joined the store team during launch day celebrations and cutting the ribbon to declare the new-look store ‘now open’ to serve and support the community.
Located in the High Street, Marske-by-the-Sea, the store supports 16 local jobs and now opens from 6am-11pm Monday-Saturday, and between 10-am-4pm on a Sunday.
The investment in the store has created a fresh and spacious new look, this includes Costa Coffee Express and bakery and, investment in new refrigeration which cuts energy consumption while enhancing the range and choice of fresh and chilled products. This sits alongside Co-op’s meal deals and food to go; Fairtrade products; ready meals; pizzas; fresh meats and dairy; chilled beers and wines and, everyday essentials.
Parcel collection services are available through DPD plus, a new InPost Locker.
The online home delivery of groceries is available through Just Eat, Uber Eats and Amazon – with grocery orders picked fresh in the local store and delivered quickly and conveniently in the community.
Additional services include PayPoint; a self-service laundromat facility; Rug Doctor; photo booth; a key cutting service and, an ATM providing access to cash in the community.
There are offers, deals and promotions throughout the store, and member price savings creating additional value for Co-op members who can save more with lower prices on those essential products that shoppers buy most.
Matthew MacDonald, Co-op Store Manager, said: “We’re delighted to invest in Marske and proud to be part of local community life - the store has been transformed with a great new look and range. We have a focus on offering quality products, value and choice that can be enjoyed by everyone, alongside added services including Costa coffee, parcel collection services, online home delivery, a new self-service laundry facility and much more - the whole team is really enjoying welcoming our members and customers back into their Co-op, we’re here to conveniently serve and support the community.”
Soft plastic recycling is available in store - making it easier for shoppers to return and recycle materials that are often not universally accepted via kerbside recycling, such as crisp packets and bread bags, lids from ready meals, biscuit wrappers and, pet food pouches.
Co-op has added new Easter lines this year including a new Easter Egg inspired by a childhood favourite - Neapolitan ice-cream. Plus, Co-op introduces its new Giant Hot Cross Bun. Co-op also has a range of bouquets and deals to choose from this Mother’s Day, including half price on all Mother’s Day cards when customers purchase a bouquet. Co-op’s range of flowers this year features 100% British Tulips and, all Co-op’s African roses are Fairtrade.
