Pupils from Broadacre Primary School in Wawne Road, Kingston upon Hull, marked the milestone visit at The Co-operative’s estate at Adlington Grange, near Swinefleet, where it grows potatoes, vining peas, winter wheat, oilseed rape, winter barley and sugar beet.
The lucky child joined the rest of their class to celebrate the occasion by cooking up healthy pizzas and spelling out the number 15,000 using pizza topping ingredients, including peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms, onions and courgettes. The pupils also lined up to create the number 15,000 when they took part in activities outside the classroom.
Linda Crow, The Co-operative’s From Farm to Fork Project Leader at Goole, said: “We were delighted to welcome the 15,000th visitor to our From Farm to Fork project here in Goole and for pupils from Broadacre Primary School to help us mark the special occasion.
“Since we launched the project at Goole in 2008 it has been a huge success. Over the years both teachers and children, who have taken part in one of the From Farm to Fork days, have continually given us extremely positive feedback and we look forward to welcoming more children to enjoy this fantastic learning experience for many more years to come.”
