Improvements in-store as Upholland Co-op receives £430k investment
16 July 2015
A Co-operative pop-up shop will continue to serve the community while the store receives its major makeover. The mobile kiosk measures 4 metres by 2.3 metres and stocks around 120 of the community retailer’s most popular grocery products. It will open from 8am-8pm until the new-look store re-launches on Thursday, 30 July.
Improvements in-store will include an enhanced bakery range, and a focus on fresh, healthy foods and essentials. The fresh new interior includes new refrigeration to enhance the range of meat, dairy and chilled produce.
The new-look Upholland store will also have a Community Pioneer, a member of the food store team, Toni Heaton, who will also work to foster involvement in community activities, from local fundraising initiatives to helping to understand and develop solutions to meet community needs.
The Co-op has also announced a £125M investment in lowering the price of everyday essentials. The move has seen it prune the price of over 100 lines of fresh fruit and vegetables, and includes revolving offers on popular produce, called “fresh three”.
Eamon Johnson, Manager of The Co-operative’s food store in Upholland, said:
“We are thrilled to be making such a significant investment in our store. It will have a fantastic new-look and, it is an exciting time for the whole team.
“I am confident that our new-look store will be a real asset to the community - enabling shoppers to pick up delicious food conveniently and, as a community retailer, it will play its part in local life. The Co-operative is committed to transforming and growing its convenience business, investing to enhance the in-store experience for our customers, while lowering the price of everyday essentials.”
There will be offers and promotions in and around the store to mark its re-launch.
