Co-op’s Mowden convenience store has re-opened today (Thursday, 15 February) with a fresh new look following a four-week programme of works and improvements.

The convenience retailer’s Fulthorpe Avenue, Mowden, store supports 17 local jobs, and now has extended opening hours between 7am-10pm daily.

Designed to serve and support the community, conveniently, Co-op’s Mowden store includes customer car parking, and a cash machine to provide access to cash in the community. This sits alongside a focus on fresh, healthy products; meal ideas; everyday essentials; food-to-go; chilled beers and award winning wines; ready meals; pizzas and, free-from; vegan and plant-based products.

Parcel collection services are available through Amazon and DPD, and the online home delivery of groceries can be ordered through Deliveroo and Uber Eats, with orders picked fresh in the store, then delivered quickly and conveniently, locally.

A soft plastic recycle unit is also available in store to enable the community to recycle ‘soft plastics’ including: crisp packets and bread bags, lids from ready meals and yogurt pots, biscuit wrappers and, pet food pouches - ensuring all Co-op’s own food packaging is recyclable through either local authority kerbside collections, or the in-store recycling unit.

Co-op’s Area Operations Manager, Andy Brown, said: “The whole team is delighted to have had the opportunity to invest in further improving the store to serve and support our community. Our aim is to operate at the heart of local life, and we’ve worked to develop the range, choice and added services to create a compelling offer, conveniently. This includes a focus on delivering member-value so that the people who own our business, Co-op's member-owners, benefit every time they shop.”
