New Co-op store launches to serve Great Shelford (Cambridge) community
26 January 2024
Co-op launches a new, improved and larger store today (Friday, 26 January) to serve and support the Great Shelford community, conveniently.
The Co-op has relocated to a new 2,400 sq ft convenience store located at De Freville House, High Green, Green Shelford. It opens between 7am-10pm daily, and supports 12 local jobs.
The new and improved store is designed to better serve and support the community, including an in-store bakery, and increased focus on fresh, healthy products; meal ideas; everyday essentials; food-to-go; chilled beers and award winning wines; ready meals; pizzas and, free-from; vegan and plant-based products.
Online home deliveries of groceries will be available through Deliveroo and Just Eat – with groceries picked fresh in the local store and delivered quickly and conveniently locally.
There is also customer car parking, and an ATM to provide access to cash in the community.
In addition, a soft plastic recycle unit is available in store to enable the community to recycle ‘soft plastics’ including: crisp packets and bread bags, lids from ready meals and yogurt pots, biscuit wrappers and, pet food pouches - ensuring all Co-op’s own food packaging is recyclable through either local authority kerbside collections, or the in-store soft plastic recycling.
Co-op Store Manager, Michael Dessent, said: “We have had a great response, and we are delighted to have had the opportunity to serve-up a new, larger and improved store to better serve Great Shelford. We are enjoying welcoming our Member-owners and customers into their new Co-op. Our aim is always to operate at the heart of local life, and we’ve worked to develop the range, choice and added services to create a compelling offer to serve and support our community, conveniently. This includes a focus on delivering member-value so that the people who own our business, Co-op's member-owners, benefit every time they shop.”
