It is fair to say that I hold a fondness for our Coop. My family, friends and work colleagues would not disagree with this statement. It is a business that we share together, but it is much more. I am so proud of what we have and what we continue to achieve. Let’s face it, the Co-op is known as a force for good, helping their members, customers and wider communities, take the membership dividend, member offers, affordable fair pricing, more recently the Co-op’s commitment to non-animal testing, Fairtrade, support for the One Foundation and the new member offer of 5% for you and 1% for your community. Who could not be proud to stand on a record like this? I know I am. The commitment that is shown to our communities in which it serves across our region and the wider UK is amazing, who else but our Co-op? Since being asked to become the Member Pioneer for Coventry in November 2017, I have begun engaging with my local community, talking to members old and new who did not know they were doing so much good simply by buying their weekly groceries, who did not know the money they see at the bottom of their receipt was for them and their communities who did not know there was more to being a member of our Co-op than swiping their membership card. I know there is more I have to offer my community and I plan to run activities and engagements in Coventry throughout 2018 and beyond. If you are as passionate for our Co-op as I am, I hope to receive your support for the Members’ Council to help ensure the Co-op continues to do good for everyone.
