I encourage and promote our Company’s CSR activities, which include supporting local and national charities, engaging with local schools and colleges to provide work experience and job opportunities to their students.
Additional information
I commenced my career within the electrical industry in 1972 and have undertaken roles as an electrical tradesman, within management and I was appointed as a company director in 2004.
I am the Director responsible for health, safety and environment and led the company application for accreditation to ISO 9001 Quality, OHSAS18001Health and Safety and ISO 14001 Environmental.
One of my roles is to undertake the training of our current staff and the employment of new trainees and apprentices. Our company is currently named within the 'Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer' by the National Apprenticeship Service.
The individual success of our trainees has been recognised by training providers, colleges and the industry with them regularly receiving awards within their chosen fields. I am registered with the NICEIC as the Principle Duty Holder for the business and I am responsible for ensuring legal compliance with the current regulations that are applied to our industry.
In my role as Chair of the ECA Skills Committee I represented the 2,800 member companies at an All Party Political Group Meeting held at Westminster to discuss the possible impact of Brexit on our industry.
I am not a member of any political party, but in my role as Chair for Skills I have had meetings with the Minister for Education and the Minister for Apprenticeships and Skills I regularly attend local schools and colleges and give presentations to staff and students on the opportunities within the Mechanical and Electrical Industry. I then follow this up by arranging mock interviews and work placements for anyone who is interested in a career within our industry.
I encourage our staff to participate in events to support local and national charities and we hold regular fund raising activities. Our efforts are frequently featured in the local newspaper The Newark Advertiser.
I believe that my experience would be of benefit to the Council and that my work within the business, industry and local community demonstrates my commitment to the ethical values of honesty, openness, social responsibility and caring for others
