Skills and experience
I have worked for the Co-op for 11 years and working towards retirement. I enjoy working for the Co-op. If elected I will strive to ensure the two main requirements of an ethical business are maintained....... ensuring customers are listened to and needs are met and that staff are supported to enjoy their responsibilities to provide the highest standards of customer care. Both rely on each other to offer the best shopping experience.
Additional information
The Co-operative is probably one of the oldest food and commodity retailers in Britain. It is built on Values; Ethics and Standards, which you will not find with any or many retailers. It also has the strongest belief in playing its part in the community often contributing in cash or kind, large or small, to activities and charities.
In working for the Co-op for over 10 years I have seen first-hand how it tries to meet customer requirements and supporting its staff to allow them to learn and offer customers the best of service. The Co-operative approach needs to be maintained, and if it fails in any way we must review the basics of our approach and learn from the experience and also put it right. Being an USDAW representative for staff has allowed me, with others, to ensure staff receive the support and encouragement required to make work a positive experience.
This approach reflects positively in the service the customer receives. I wish to continue my involvement with the Co-op after retirement, listening to staff and customers alike. One other comment, or question is how many other retailers have such a democratic approach to service provision? I like the Co-op and wish to continue to serve on your behalf should you support me
