Your Co-op is rooted in a co-operative business model that was founded in 1844 and is used around the world today. 180 years on, our purpose remains the same: we’re owned by, and run for the benefit of our members, not a wealthy few, which means we can do right by them. An exclusive benefit of ownership is that members can pick their leaders or become one themselves.
Our members are at the heart of everything we do
Stand for election as a Member Nominated Director or Council Member and help us make decisions that represent the views of our six million member-owners and create more value for them. Candidates will be put forward on an election ballot and voted for by their fellow members ahead of our AGM in May.
With the government's commitment to doubling the co-operative sector, and the 2025 UN International Year of Co-ops, there has never been a better time to join us and champion a new era of co-operation that thrives for another 180 years.
Join our Board as a Member Nominated Director
We have 4 Member Nominated Directors (MNDs) on the Co-op Board and in 2025, there are two seats available for election. MNDs help set the strategic direction of our business and oversee its performance on behalf of our member-owners, bringing their views into the boardroom.

Join our National Members' Council
We are looking for new Council Members to join our 100-strong National Members Council. You will work directly with our Board and MNDs to shape and influence plans across our businesses, representing the views of members to create value for them. Our Council meets online and in Manchester throughout the year.
If you’re looking for experience working with a large organisation, and want to be a voice for others, then this role is for you.
